Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) offers a remote or Eugene-based internship with the Defenders team. The 10-week, full-time program supports interns in legal research, drafting submissions, and contributing to global efforts defending environmental defenders.

Open to JD 2L or LL.M. students, including international applicants, with English or Spanish proficiency; French is a welcome asset. Compensation is $17.50/hour, up to $7,000 total.

Qualificações

• Enrollment as 2L JD student or 2nd year LL.M. student.
• International applicants welcome and should describe preparation to succeed.
• Spanish or French proficiency is a welcome asset.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct legal research and draft memos on a wide range of law and mechanisms protecting environmental defenders and communities.
• Analyze and summarize innovative laws, trends, and court decisions.
• Assist with drafting briefs, regulatory analyses, or resource updates.
• Participate as a collaborative member of a legal team with mentorship.
• Observe meetings with local lawyer partners.
• Contribute to global legal efforts defending environmental defenders.
