Job summary

NRDC is seeking Spring Litigation Interns to assist attorneys across Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. You will contribute to legal research, writing, and strategy development on environmental cases.

The internship lasts about 10 weeks with 14–20 hours per week, or 20 hours across other weekly options; start dates are negotiable and the posting remains open until November 1, 2026. A stipend of $4,000 for 140 hours is provided.

Qualifications

• Law school student in Spring 2027 (2L or 3L) in JD/LLM program.
• Strong legal writing, analytical and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a team and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to public service, equity and justice.
• Experience collaborating with diverse groups is valued.

Responsibilities

• Support NRDC litigation attorneys with legal research and writing.
• Assist with drafting and reviewing pleadings, memoranda, and comments.
• Help prepare declarations and participate in rulemaking and litigation tasks.
• Contribute to advocacy materials and policy analyses.
• Take on project work across NRDC offices in multiple cities.
