Job summary

Morro Bay National Estuary Program is seeking a full-time Environmental Communications & Outreach Projects Manager to oversee projects and grow education, outreach, and communication efforts that protect Morro Bay and surrounding lands.

The role involves managing contracts and budgets, supervising staff, and creating engaging content for diverse audiences; in-person participation is required, with some remote work options. Strong writing and graphics skills are valued.

Qualifications

• BA/BS, coursework, or equivalent work experience in the environmental field.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in communications and outreach.
• 1 to 2 years of project management experience, including budgets, contracts, and general financial administration.
• Supervisory experience, including interns or volunteers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in basic office programs (Microsoft Office 365, Adobe).
• Experience with graphic design using Canva.

Responsibilities

• Project Management: Develop and implement education, outreach, and communication efforts; manage contracts, budgets, schedules, and financial administration.
• Communications: Write and convey technical information to the general public; develop blogs, newsletters, social media, website content, and print materials.
• Outreach & Events: Lead public outreach campaigns on estuary health; collaborate on outreach events, beach cleanups, community science, and volunteer restoration days.
