Job summary

Environmental and Land Use Hearings Office in Washington state seeks an Administrative Appeals Judge to preside over PCHB and SHB matters, issue fair procedural decisions, and manage assigned cases.

The ideal candidate is an attorney admitted in Washington with strong environmental law knowledge, exceptional writing and research skills, and a demonstrated judicial temperament to render impartial decisions.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the practice of law in Washington and in good standing
• Knowledge of environmental law evidenced by research, writing, coursework, or practice
• valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Preside over prehearing conferences and hearings to ensure fairness
• Issue legally sound procedural decisions and manage caseloads
• Conduct mediations between PCHB and SHB parties to achieve mutual resolution
• Assist with open public meetings, public records requests, and case file organization
