General Motors seeks a seasoned Systems Engineer to define and lead the future-state MBSE operating model and digital thread. You will unify tools, data ownership, and governance to enable a model-driven, end-to-end traceable architecture across requirements, system modeling, PLM and DevOps.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering and MBSE.
  • Deep MBSE practice across requirements, architecture, behavior, interfaces, analysis, V&V.
  • Enterprise architecture of complex engineering toolchains and data ecosystems.
  • SysML proficiency and model management; SysML v1/v2 considerations.
  • Experience deploying and managing modern MBSE ecosystems.
  • Requirements traceability, configuration/version management, and change-impact analysis.
  • Integration patterns, APIs, OSLC or equivalent standards, data flows, and IAM.
  • Product lifecycle management, software/ALM, simulation, safety, cybersecurity, and test-system integration.
  • Engineering process design, governance, capability maturity, migration, rollout and change management.
  • Strong understanding of automotive or complex cyber-physical product development.

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise MBSE ecosystem architecture, including tool boundaries and data ownership.
  • Define the target operating model spanning people, process, methods, data, tools, governance and adoption.
  • Establish enterprise MBSE method, SysML profile, metamodel, ontology and reusable libraries.
  • Architect MBSE integration across requirements management, system architecture modeling, PLM, ALM/DevOps, simulation, safety, cybersecurity, test, etc.
  • Define and tailor Systems Engineering processes for concurrent and integrated execution.
  • Lead tool evaluations focusing on interoperability, traceability, data portability, and lifecycle costs.
  • Maintain tool-independence by avoiding vendor lock-in where possible.
  • Shape migration and coexistence strategies for legacy repos and dual toolchains.
  • Lead cross-functional architecture decisions across GEOS, IT, software/hardware, safety, PLM, and leadership.
  • Create model-based lifecycle gates, readiness criteria and governance mechanisms.
  • Drive pilots to scale with evidence-based evaluations of tools and adoption.
  • Define KPIs for traceability, change impact, architecture reuse and efficiency.
  • Represent GM in industry forums and vendor engagements.
