Job summary

Humana seeks a Lead Enterprise Architect, Enterprise API and Integration, to define an enterprise API ecosystem and governance across API providers and consumers. You will drive lifecycle management, promote reuse, and enable AI-driven capabilities while aligning with enterprise strategies.

You will collaborate with architecture, security, data, and business teams to enforce standards, scale platforms, and deliver catalog-driven discovery. Travel may be required for training or meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a senior architect or technical lead in large-scale enterprise systems.
• 8+ years of experience in API architecture, integration, or application development.
• Strong experience with API governance frameworks and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway).
• Expertise in API security standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and operational standards for APIs and microservices.
• Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Define, evolve, and promote enterprise API architecture, design patterns, and standards.
• Lead enterprise-wide API governance, including intake, design review, lifecycle management, and compliance enforcement.
• Partner with architecture, engineering, security, data, and business teams to drive adoption of API standards.
• Build and scale enterprise API platforms enabling federated development and catalog-driven discovery.
• Develop AI-enabled governance capabilities across the API lifecycle.
• Define reference architectures for modern integration patterns such as event-driven, microservices, LLM integration.
• Architect and operationalize agentic ecosystems with orchestration frameworks.
• Establish governance metrics and KPIs for API adoption, lifecycle maturity and compliance.
• Design executive dashboards and reporting on API ecosystem health and outcomes.
• Lead prototyping, PoCs, and evaluation of emerging API/AI technologies.
• Improve engineering velocity, scalability, and API quality through platform capabilities.
• Coach and mentor architects and engineering teams on API design and governance.
• Collaborate with partners to align integration strategy with industry trends.
