EPAM Systems, Inc. seeks an AI Architect to design and govern AI-native applications across clients, shaping architecture, guardrails and cost models. You will frame problems, surface constraints, and own decisions while prototyping when evidence is needed.

You will collaborate with delivery teams and presales, mentor architects, and contribute reusable patterns to EPAM's AI practice, balancing business impact with technical feasibility.

Qualifications

• : Architectural responsibility for AI-native systems in production, including RAG/agents and agentic workflows.
• : Proven production track record as an architect who has started AI work recently.
• : Delivery accountable architect with shipped, maintained systems.
• : Deep expertise in distributed systems, integration, cloud, and data-flow at scale.
• : Ability to surface and price trade-offs among options with explicit business terms.
• : Experience presenting options, costs, and risks to non-technical decision makers.
• : Habit of writing architecture decisions, design docs, and reusable patterns.
• : Hands-on coding ability to prototype and verify constraints.
• : Understanding how AI-driven development reshapes the architect role.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for AI-native solutions including orchestration, retrieval, tool integration, agent autonomy and guardrails.
• Fit each solution to business scope and explain what is left out and why.
• Turn conflicting requirements into explicit business decisions with owners.
• Document architectural trade-offs (build vs buy, model selection, retrieval strategy, autonomy level, cost vs quality).
• Define evaluation strategy to ensure systems meet business scope, not just fluent output.
• Write constraints and guidelines that engineering teams and agents follow and revise them as needed.
• Decide where humans stay in the loop due to regulation or legal considerations.
• Work with EPAM delivery and presales teams to shape proposals and present options and costs.
• Build proofs of concept and reference implementations when evidence is needed.
• Contribute to EPAM's AI architecture practice with reference architectures and mentoring.
