Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc. seeks an AI Architect to shape target architectures for AI-native applications across industries. You will decide what the system should do, define guardrails and evaluations, and frame problems for engineering teams and AI coding agents.

This architecture role emphasizes decisions, structure and reasoning over code volume, with prototyping only when evidence is needed. You’ll collaborate with delivery teams and presales to shape proposals and reviews.

Qualifications

• Architected AI-native systems in production with real users and business processes behind them.
• Solid experience as a solution/software/enterprise architect with delivery accountability.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud and data-flow architecture at scale.
• Ability to surface conflicting requirements, price options, and obtain decisions.
• Experience presenting options, costs, and risks to non-technical decision makers.
• Habit of writing architecture decision records, design documents and reference architectures.
• Recent hands-on coding ability to prototype and validate constraints.
• Understanding of how AI-assisted development changes the architect's role.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for AI-native solutions including orchestration, retrieval, and integration.
• Ensure solutions align to business scope and justify what is left out.
• Convert ambiguous requirements into explicit business decisions and assign owners.
• Document architectural trade-offs and rationale for future teams to trust.
• Define evaluation strategies to verify business-fit, not just fluent output.
• Write constraints and guidelines for engineering teams and AI agents.
• Decide where humans stay in the loop for regulated decisions and data of record.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and presales to shape proposals and reviews.
• Build proofs of concept or reference implementations when evidence is needed.
• Contribute to EPAM's AI architecture practice with reusable patterns and mentoring.
