Job summary

Canonical is seeking an engineering manager to lead a distributed team across the Americas and Europe. You will guide software delivery, mentor engineers, and promote best practices in Linux-based cloud systems.

You will coordinate with Canonical and open source communities while balancing remote work with periodic in-person collaboration. The role requires strong leadership, Linux/K8s familiarity, and a background in high-performance distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Experience leading remote engineering teams.
• Deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage and networking.
• Bachelor's or equivalent in CS or STEM.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes (K8s).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of remote engineers.
• Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback and career development.
• Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management and external partners.
• Advocate and advance modern software development practices.
• Participate in engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
• Engage with Canonical, open source community and partners.
• Work from home with 4–6 weeks of travel per year for events.
