Job summary

JDS Consulting, PLLC is seeking an Engineer in Training to join our Southeast region team. You will collaborate with colleagues to lead structural engineering tasks and support design, drafting, and evaluations across commercial projects.

The role emphasizes FE exam progress, EI status submission in NC, and hands-on experience in concrete, steel, and wood design. This position offers growth within a premier regional engineering firm with remote-friendly options.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from a U.S.-accredited university.
Must have passed the FE exam and submitted for EI status with the NC Board of Engineering.
1–2 years of construction experience.
Coursework and experience in concrete and steel design.
Experience in wood and steel construction, lateral bracing, and gravity loads.

Responsibilities

Support site evaluations, drafting, and design for structural projects as requested by the client of JDS Consulting.
Perform long-term, complex structural analysis for commercial projects.
Collaborate with the Design team on unusual technical project scopes.
Lead data collection, reporting, and presentation of deliverables for each project.
