Role Description

The Structural Engineer in Training role is a full-time, on-site position based in Minneapolis, MN. This role involves structural design and analysis for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including preparing calculations, review notes, and technical documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with computer-aided design (CAD) modeling, developing drawings and details, and helping ensure designs comply with applicable codes and permitting requirements. The Structural Engineer in Training will also participate in site visits and inspections, document findings, and contribute to repair and reinforcement recommendations. Collaboration with architects, contractors, and internal team members is expected, along with a commitment to learning, professional development, and adherence to company quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with an interest in building design and construction.
• Proficiency in Structural Analysis and engineering Calculations to support design, evaluation, and verification of building components.
• Experience or coursework with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating plans, sections, details, and 3D models.
• Ability to interpret and apply building codes, standards, and permitting requirements; familiarity with materials such as wood, steel, concrete, and masonry is beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related field); Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or eligibility preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Willingness to perform field work and site inspections, including travel within the region as needed.
