Job summary

EVCS is seeking a Manager, Energy & Utilities to own our utility relationships and drive energy cost optimization across the charging network. This remote role will coordinate interconnection, rate inquiries, billing audits, and tariff advocacy while negotiating favorable programs with multiple utilities.

You will build expertise in utility tariffs, model financial impacts, and work closely with operations on BESS strategy to maximize savings and efficiency across sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in energy management or utility operations, ideally with regulated electric utilities.
• Deep knowledge of commercial/industrial utility rate structures (demand charges, TOU, ratchet clauses).
• Ability to analyze complex tariff schedules and model financial impact.
• Experience managing utility relationships across multiple states and territories.
• Strong written and verbal communication to advocate with utilities on behalf of a customer.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL) to manage large billing datasets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for utility companies across EVCS’s network, building relationships with key account managers and rate engineers.
• Own all utility communications: service applications, rate inquiries, interconnections, billing disputes, and program enrollments.
• Represent EVCS in utility working groups, rate case proceedings, and industry forums.
• Monitor regulatory dockets and rate case filings for changes impacting costs.
• Conduct tariff analyses to identify opportunities for favorable rates and TOU plans.
• Develop a portfolio-wide view of energy costs and tracking metrics across the network.
• Identify and enroll in utility incentive programs and demand response opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations on BESS strategy to maximize cost reductions.
• Audit invoices to identify errors and recover funds; maintain an accurate utility accounts database.
• Build dashboards for leadership to monitor energy costs and optimization opportunities.
