Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Data Scientist to advance our client’s energy analytics initiatives. You will build and deploy machine learning models on vast energy datasets, build data pipelines, and craft dashboards to share insights with stakeholders across the organization.

This remote-first role emphasizes independent work, rigorous experimentation, and collaboration with energy-domain experts to inform strategic decisions and optimize operations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, CS, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, with a proven track record in developing and deploying machine learning models.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and expertise in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
• Strong experience with SQL and working with relational databases.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience in the energy sector or with energy-related datasets is highly advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Must have reliable high-speed internet access and a suitable home office environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and statistical algorithms to analyze energy-related data.
• Extract, clean, and transform large, complex datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with domain experts across different departments to understand business needs and translate them into data science solutions.
• Identify patterns and trends in energy consumption, production efficiency, and market dynamics to provide actionable recommendations.
• Conduct A/B testing and other experimental designs to evaluate the impact of interventions.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, particularly within the energy domain.
• Contribute to the development of data infrastructure and best practices for remote team collaboration.
• Effectively document methodologies, code, and results for reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
