Job summary

Markent Personnel, Inc. is seeking an Associate Attorney / Of Counsel for Employment Litigation to join its remote practice. You will handle sophisticated employment matters for employers, with significant responsibility and client interaction.

The ideal candidate has a California bar in good standing and 4+ years of substantive employment litigation experience; Of Counsel candidates should have 9+ years and first-chair capabilities. Strong advocacy and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
• Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing.
• 4+ years of substantive California employment litigation experience (Associate level consideration).
• Attorneys seeking Of Counsel consideration should possess 9+ years of relevant California employment litigation experience and demonstrated first-chair litigation capabilities.
• Experience defending employers in employment litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and related workplace claims.
• Experience representing employers in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative agency matters.
• Class Action and/or PAGA experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws and administrative procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to client service excellence.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork.
• Prior large law firm experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend employers in a broad range of employment litigation matters and agency proceedings.
• Handle all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
• Represent employers before state and federal administrative agencies.
• Advise and counsel employers on employment law compliance and workplace issues.
• Conduct management training on employment and labor law topics.
• Handle matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, employment torts, contract claims, non-compete issues, and class or representative actions.
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and practice areas to provide strategic, business-oriented legal counsel to clients.
