Job summary

Aura is seeking a collaborative, pragmatic Employment & Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, you will serve as the primary legal advisor on all human resources, talent acquisition, and employment law matters.

Additionally, you will support the broader legal function by assisting with key corporate matters, including contract drafting, commercial agreement reviews, and corporate governance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
• 3+ years of relevant legal experience practicing employment law and general corporate law.
• Core expertise in employment law, labor regulations, and workplace compliance.
• Experience drafting and negotiating standard commercial contracts.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
• High degree of discretion, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
• Self-starter mindset capable of managing multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide actionable, business-oriented legal advice across the employee lifecycle (recruitment, hiring, performance management, offboarding, and executive compensation).
• Draft, review, and refine employment-related documents (offer letters, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, severance, contractor agreements).
• Monitor and advise on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, pay transparency, remote work compliance).
• Oversee internal workplace investigations with HR for fair, prompt resolutions.
• Develop and implement company-wide HR policies, handbooks, and guidelines across jurisdictions.
• Manage outside counsel on employment-related claims and disputes.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (NDAs, MSAs, vendor/SaaS).
• Support cross-functional initiatives including M&A, corporate restructuring, international expansion.
