Job summary

GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center is seeking an Embedded Computing Research Engineer to develop, implement, and test edge solutions for embedded systems powering industrial automation and enterprise software platforms. You will contribute hands-on across the full development lifecycle—from concept and architecture through implementation and verification.

Qualifications

• > 1 year of embedded systems, firmware, or edge software development.
• Proficiency in embedded software development using C and/or C++.
• Experience with microcontrollers/microprocessors and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, IEC 61850, MQTT, BACnet) and data-serialization like Protobuf/JSON.
• Ability to integrate analytics, secure data pipelines into edge apps.
• Experience on Linux or RTOS-based systems and full lifecycle development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and test edge and embedded software for industrial platforms.
• Translate program requirements into robust embedded designs and implementation plans.
• Develop firmware in C/C++ for real-time embedded platforms.
• Build, execute, and automate unit, integration, HIL, and system tests.
• Support maturation of research prototypes into GE Vernova product platforms.
• Collaborate with teams, suppliers, labs, universities, and partners to meet milestones.
• Contribute to proposals, technical reports, and program reviews.
• Apply secure-by-design principles and cybersecurity practices across the lifecycle.
