Job summary

Black Girl Vitamins is seeking a Manager of Product Development in Chicago with remote options within the US. You will own the product pipeline from concept through formulation, testing, substantiation, and ready-for-production.

Lead a small team and partners to ensure FDA compliance and GMP standards. You will write briefs, manage manufacturers, and ensure claims are scientifically supported while aligning products with consumer needs and costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product development in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or related CPG categories.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field with deep knowledge of formulation, dosage forms, manufacturing and testing.
• Working knowledge of FDA dietary supplement regulations, labeling, structure/function claims, and GMP.
• Experience with contract manufacturers, formulators, laboratories, ingredient suppliers, and packaging vendors.
• Ability to connect a formula to its cost, margin, and consumer need.

Responsibilities

• Decide what we should make by researching ingredients, delivery formats, studies and trends; turn findings into concepts with consumer need, rationale, and commercial case.
• Write briefs for new products, reformulations, and line extensions detailing target consumer, positioning, benefits, formula requirements, dosage format, claims, and costs.
• Own the formula; lead formulation, ingredient selection, flavor work, and testing with formulators, scientists, and laboratories.
• Manage development partners: select and oversee contract manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and packaging vendors; ensure quality, cost and timing.
• Ensure all claims are substantiated, labels meet FDA dietary supplement requirements, and products meet GMP standards and third‑party testing as needed.
