Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Health – Division of Licensure and Accreditation in Pierre or Rapid City, SD is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse Health Facilities Surveyor. This role conducts inspections to ensure compliance with health care regulations and promotes patient safety.

Travel is required; a daily per diem and a state vehicle are provided. After a six‑month probation, most positions allow up to three remote workdays per week with in-office days at Rapid City, Pierre, Mitchell, or

Qualifications

• The candidate must hold a South Dakota RN license and be eligible to practice.
• Training for the survey process includes required online CMS courses and precepted surveys.
• Ability to travel and perform inspections at licensed facilities.

Responsibilities

• Survey patient activities, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and the physical environment.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations protecting health and safety.
• Travel for surveys and operate a state vehicle; provide accurate documentation.
