Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage, through the Anchorage Health Department (AHD), seeks a qualified professional to administer daily medical billing and coding operations for the department’s clinics and clients.

You will serve as the clinic subject matter expert on the most current billing standards, audits, and ensure proper coding for payors in line with grants, health laws and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in accounting, payroll, or similar office responsibilities.
• Two years of experience with an Associate’s degree or four years with a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Administers daily medical billing and coding operations for the Health Department's clinics and clients.
• Serves as clinic subject matter expert on billing standards and projections.
• Performs daily encounter audits to ensure proper coding and billing for payors (third party, Medicaid or Medicare).
• Oversees all cash, checks and credit card payments and submits daily cash journals into the central enterprise system.
• Provides cash handling training and maintains training documentation related to retention requirements.
• Collaborates with AHD Leadership Team and Supervisors to identify deficiencies and improve client services.
