Job summary

Cypress HCM seeks an experienced Platform Strategy - Application Engineer for a contract-based role in a hybrid setup. The position covers ongoing coverage of the Data & Dev Ops Engineering team, focusing on real-time insights, AI initiatives, and Azure Event Hubs migrations.

You will ramp quickly into existing systems, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain momentum on in-flight projects during the contract window, with a strong emphasis on reliability and scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

• Expertise with the Databricks ecosystem including Spark, Python, and Airflow.
• Proficiency with Kafka and streaming tech (REST Proxy, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Spark Streaming, Azure Event Hubs).
• Strong programming background in Python/Java/JavaScript and API/microservices design.
• Solid understanding of software testing and data quality practices.
• Experience with database/data warehouse platforms (Databricks, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift).
• Proficiency with Unix, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
• Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic).
• CI/CD for data platforms (CircleCI, Argo CD) and orchestration (Airflow, Lakeflow).
• Runbook development and dev/stage/prod promotion practices.
• Ability to work independently with 4+ years hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive and build DataOps solutions for reliable pipelines and data quality.
• Maintain, deploy, and run apps supporting data analytics, real-time, and AI.
• Build migrations from Confluent Kafka to Azure Event Hubs.
• Create automation for scaling, CI/CD, monitoring, testing, and observability.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and reliability; participate in on-call rotations.
• Ensure smooth handoff at contract end with proper documentation.
