Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a Network Security Analyst II to monitor and manage routine and non-routine security events and vulnerabilities. You will perform maintenance, testing, upgrades, and troubleshooting across campus IT networks.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in CS or CIS, with at least three years in data networking analysis and preferred ITIL certification. The role supports a hybrid work model and may require on-site campus presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or a related field from an accredited university.
• ITIL Foundation Certification is preferred.
• Minimum of three years of full-time work experience in data networking analysis related roles.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security systems across multiple University campuses to identify information security incidents and respond in real time.
• Participate in response and recovery for policy violations, privacy issues, and related incidents.
• Maintain and administer university-wide firewall configurations and monitoring mechanisms.
• Configure and maintain departmental firewalls based on established parameters.
• Monitor and manage spam filter devices and related software configurations.
• Assist in configuring and maintaining encrypted VPNs for departments and colleges.
