Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation invites applications for a 12-week Mechanical Engineering Intern (Finance) position located on-site in Lemont, IL or Downers Grove, IL. The intern will assist Project Engineering or Reliability teams, learn refinery processes, and gain hands-on experience while supporting engineering tasks under supervision.

Compensation is $26.16–$34.85 per hour, with a paid summer internship and a final presentation detailing project learnings and achievements.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor's program.
• Sophomore status (completed freshman year).
• Overall GPA ≥ 3.0.
• 40 hours/week for 12 weeks.
• Valid driver's license.
• TWIC eligibility as per Maritime Transportation Security Act.

Responsibilities

• Generate discipline-related work scopes and update project documentation.
• Edit training manual and apply engineering practices to tasks.
• Assist with updating equipment reliability and integrity plans.
• Review engineering documentation for completeness and alignment with policies.
• Conduct site visits with Senior Project Engineers and Managers.
• Prepare end-of-internship summary and presentation.
