Job summary

Black Box Network Services is seeking an Estimator – Data Center Operations to develop cost estimates for data center infrastructure projects, including BOMs and labor projections. You will work closely with project engineers, procurement, and field teams to ensure accuracy and competitiveness throughout proposal development.

The role requires attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and experience with hyperscale data center environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with hyperscale data center projects.
• Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years in estimating or data center construction; internships acceptable.
• Knowledge of Division 27 ISP environments and relevant electrical/mechanical/cabling systems.
• Proficiency in Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications with strong numerical accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, BOMs, and labor projections for data center projects.
• Interpret blueprints and scope documents to determine requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, field operations, and procurement to validate quantities and vendor quotes.
• Perform take-offs for electrical, mechanical, and cabling systems.
• Support bid preparation and responses to RFPs and client proposals.
• Update historical cost data and vendor rate databases; support change order analysis.
• Ensure estimates comply with company standards, safety, and client expectations.
• Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather technical details.
