Job summary

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Human Resource Area Specialist to support the Justice & Public Safety Cabinet in personnel management, records, and payroll tasks. This full-time position may telecommute and requires adherence to state HR statutes and policies.

Responsibilities include advising agency executives on evaluations, maintaining personnel files, processing CES and KHRIS transactions, and coordinating with the Personnel Cabinet.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional experience in human resource administration, one of which must be in one of the specialized areas of EEO, ADA, FMLA, health insurance, or corrective or disciplinary actions.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical advice to agency executives in the review and processing of evaluations according to statutes and regulations.
• Maintains agency personnel files for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Processes personnel and payroll for assigned areas.
• Coordinates with Legal and HR Branch Manager regarding complex cases.
• Maintains agency personnel files and coordinates with the Personnel Cabinet as required.
• Interprets, enforces and assists in developing policies and procedures for the agency ensuring compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
• Attends meetings and trainings as required.
• Assists and conducts training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
