Job summary

Brown County Health and Human Services seeks an Economic Support Specialist to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Badgercare Plus, FoodShare and Child Care assistance. You will interview clients, collect financial data, and compute budgets using complex formulas within the statewide system.

The role requires accuracy and the ability to explain benefits and requirements clearly to diverse clients. Telework may be considered after training, with a strong emphasis on service to the Brown County

Qualifications

• Interviews clients to obtain financial and non-financial information to determine eligibility.
• Analyzes needs and makes referrals to other programs; verifies documentation and records such as tax forms, contracts and immigration status.
• Determines initial and continued eligibility and benefits levels within program rules; notifies clients in writing with regulations.
• Prepares monthly budget computations using complex calculations and detailed bookkeeping procedures.
• Proficient with state computer systems and data entry for benefits issuance.

Responsibilities

• Interviews clients to obtain financial and non-financial information necessary to determine eligibility and clarifies discrepancies.
• Analyzes applications and re-certifications to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
• Maintains electronic and paper case files to reflect benefit issuances and corrections.
• Answers questions from clients and agencies regarding financial assistance and rights and responsibilities.
• Assists with administrative hearings related to denial or reduction of benefits.
