Job summary

Walworth County is seeking a full-time Economic Support Specialist in Elkhorn, WI to determine initial and continued eligibility for Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Food Share, Child Care, and related programs.

The role includes intake interviews, data entry into CARES, HIPAA-compliant record keeping, and collaboration with social workers to ensure accurate benefits and timely processing. Remote work may be possible after 9 months, contingent on performance.

Qualifications

• Provide superior customer service and explain program eligibility requirements.
• Interview consumers to collect information for Medicaid, Food Share, Child Care, and related programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service, answer consumer questions and explain program and eligibility requirements.
• Conduct intake and renewal interviews with consumers to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Food Share, Child Care, Caretaker Supplement and other economic support services.
• Inform consumers of their rights and responsibilities, including reporting changes.
• Effectively communicate with customers with varied reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
• Enter consumer data into CARES and other state/local systems for initial and ongoing casework; maintain electronic case files.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA requirements.
• Meet performance benchmarks for timely case processing and quality.
