Job summary

Assort Health in San Francisco is seeking a Security Engineer to build and strengthen security foundations from the ground up, with a focus on cloud and product security. You will own security initiatives across cloud infrastructure and product code, partnering with engineers to close gaps as the company scales.

The role offers meaningful ownership, hands-on work, and the chance to shape how security operates as the company matures.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of relevant security experience.
• Experience in cloud and/or product security.
• Background in cloud security; GCP preferred, AWS also accepted.
• Ability to review code and infrastructure for security gaps, and support automation.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen cloud security and product security programs with practical improvements.
• Own cloud and infrastructure security initiatives; identify gaps and improve configurations.
• Lead product security work, review patterns, and partner with engineering on remediation.
• Support detection and response for cloud environments and establish monitoring processes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive security projects and improve coverage.
• Assist with SOC 2 readiness and translate audit needs into long-term practices.
• Evaluate and implement security tooling for cloud and product security; explore modern/open-source/AI-enabled options.
• Hands-on scripting and automation to move security work forward.
