Job summary

Assort Health seeks a Security Engineer to build and strengthen security foundations focused on cloud and product security in a fast-moving startup. The role offers ownership across security domains and collaboration with engineering to mature security programs.

Ideal candidates will have 4–6 years in security, a strong cloud background (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable), and hands-on skills in code review, automation, and security tooling in a growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of security experience.
• Experience in product security and/or cloud infrastructure security.
• Background in cloud security; preference for GCP; strong AWS also welcome.
• Ability to review code and assess infrastructure gaps, and support automation.
• Familiarity with modern cloud and SaaS tooling.
• Experience in a startup or fast-growth environment is highly valuable.
• Onsite in San Francisco 4 days a week; remote work possible for the right candidate in the US.

Responsibilities

• Help build and strengthen cloud security and product security programs with practical improvements.
• Own cloud and infrastructure security initiatives; identify gaps and improve configurations.
• Lead product security work; review code/infrastructure patterns and coordinate remediation.
• Support detection and response for cloud environments; establish monitoring processes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement security projects and drive progress on high-priority initiatives.
• Assist with SOC 2 security efforts and translate audit needs into sustainable practices.
• Evaluate and implement security tooling for cloud and product security, including AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
• Perform hands-on technical work, scripting, and automation to move the team forward.
