Southwestern Oregon Community College invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty Instructor – Part Time Faculty Agroecology Lab Assistant. The role supports lab, greenhouse, and garden learning activities, assisting students with assignments and collaborating with faculty to align instruction with diverse delivery methods.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent; gardening or horticulture experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Gardening, horticulture, greenhouse, or integrated farming experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn is essential.
• Must reside in Oregon.
• Final candidates subject to criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set up of lab, greenhouse, and garden learning activities.
• Assist students with lab assignments.
• Collaborate with Faculty member to align student lab experience with instructional methodology appropriate to the audience and to the student (e.g., lecture, demonstration, group discussion, technology-enhanced delivery, computer-assisted delivery, and distance delivery). Must be able to explain and deliver materials in a variety of ways to meet the needs of a broad range of learning activities.
• Assist with maintaining greenhouse and garden.
• Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, demonstrating an ability to work with others in a courteous and cooperative fashion.
• Teach assigned courses as needed and in-line with qualifications.
