Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission in Texas seeks an Eligibility Advisor I to determine eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and related programs. Training is provided, with potential upgrade after probation. The role supports clients and uses standard computer systems to enter data and compute benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Sixty (60) semester hours preferred from college/university.
• One (1) year of customer service experience with public contact required.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and recipients in person or by phone to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Evaluate data from various sources to enter information into an eligibility system.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determination.
• Process work per state and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
