Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison Libraries seeks an energetic Electronic Resources Cataloging Specialist to join the Electronic Resources Cataloging Team in the Cataloging Department. This role focuses on electronic resources the library subscribes to, providing resource description services and collaborating across departments to resolve issues.

The position offers a partial remote option after training, with a maximum of 40% remote per week.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to independently prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, and follow-through on tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide complex library services support in absence of supervisory authority.
• Interpret policies and procedures to answer non-routine questions and resolve complex issues.
• Hire, train, and guide student employees and monitor workflows.
• May create invoices, process complex orders, and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
• Provide complex support to day-to-day library operations and resource management.
• Conduct reference searches to locate materials and answer questions as needed.
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
• Utilize library systems to locate, retrieve, and organize resources.
• Participate in committee work within the library and university.
• Use library software to enter and report data.
• Assist and educate patrons in the use of technologies and tools.
