Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries seek a creative and energetic Electronic Resources Cataloging Specialist to join the Electronic Resources Cataloging Team with in the Cataloging Department. This position focuses on the electronic resources the library and/or the Universities of Wisconsin purchase or subscribe to.

This position provides resource description services and collaborates with colleagues across departments to resolve cataloging issues and to develop workflows.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful workplace.
• Provide complex library services support in the absence of supervisory authority.
• Interpret policies to answer non-routine questions and resolve issues.
• Hire, train, and guide student employees and monitor workflows.
• Process invoices and purchasing discrepancies as needed.
• Support day-to-day library operations and guide use of resources and policies.
• Conduct reference searches to locate relevant materials.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development.
• Utilize library systems and tools to locate, describe, edit, and organize resources.
• Participate in library and university committee work.
• Use library software to retrieve, enter, and report data.
• Assist and educate both face-to-face and remote customers in using technologies.
