Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to design, program, and commission generator control paralleling systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power setups, working independently or with teams to drive retrofit and new- system projects from concept through commissioning.

The role requires familiarity with PLCs (Rockwell/AB, Siemens, Schneider), HMIs, and reading electrical schematics, with travel and remote work as needed. A BSEE or related degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support teams; escalate as needed.
• Prepare project documentation, reports, and expenses timely.
• Train customers, technicians, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
