Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Electrical/Automation Engineer in the Electric Power Division to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for power systems, leading retrofit projects from concept through commissioning, both independently and with teams.

Responsibilities include designing PLC/HMI applications, converting legacy PLCs, and supporting field performance while coordinating with CAD, sales, and service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams.
