Job summary
Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking a talented engineer to design, program, and commission generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, leading retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.
You will work with cross-functional teams, identify retrofit opportunities, convert legacy PLC programs, develop HMI applications, and train technicians. Domestic travel up to 50% is expected.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
- Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
- Experience reading electrical schematics and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope.
- Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Product Support Center teams.
