Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a skilled engineer to support design, development, and implementation of generator control switchgear systems within the Electric Power Division.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems from concept through commissioning, working independently and with teams. Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning; converting legacy PLCs; developing PLC/HMI apps; and training technicians and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Knowledge of power systems and ability to read schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance across platforms.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Coordinate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical risk assessment and field performance support for projects.
• Support AES Sales and Product Support Center teams with escalation assistance.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train customers and technicians on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system operation.
