Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking an engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams to complete projects from concept to commissioning.

Role is remote-based with a 35-50% travel requirement and a salaried exempt status. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred, and relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related experience preferred.
• Experience with automation, PLCs, HMIs and power systems.
• Cross-functional collaboration with engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development.
• Design, program, test, and commission control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
• Develop PLC and HMI applications using templates.
• Create wiring drawings with CAD designers.
• Perform risk assessment and support field performance.
• Train technicians and customers on operation and troubleshooting.
• Submit project documentation and expenses timely.
