Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to join our team, with hybrid and remote work options. You will create 2D/3D electrical drawings, develop panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and coordinate with mechanical and civil disciplines on energy projects.

Strong CAD skills and 3+ years of relevant experience are required, with a focus on accuracy and coding standards. Office locations across multiple states provide flexibility, and the role offers growth

Qualifications

• A.A.S. Degree in Electrical Drafting & Design or related technical field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical CAD drafting/design.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoDesk 3D products.
• Skillset in electrical modeling software: Elecdes and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
• Understanding electrical symbols, schematics, PLCs, control systems, panel design, grounding.

Responsibilities

• Creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics and cable and conduit schedules.
• Develop 3D models of electrical equipment and facility layouts.
• Interpret electrical design specifications, sketches, and markups from engineers and convert them into CAD drawings.
• Maintain and organize drawing files with strong attention to CAD standards and drafting quality.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and company guidelines.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design conflicts.
• Perform field visits to verify and gather site information for design accuracy.
• Assisting with redlines, drawing updates, and document control processes.
• Checking and reviewing CAD deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Mentoring and guiding junior drafters and occasionally leading small drafting teams.
