Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting seeks an Electrical CAD Designer to join our team. The role supports the planning, design, and delivery of industrial energy projects, with hybrid/remote options available and multiple U.S. office locations or remote work.

The position requires an A.A.S. in Electrical Drafting & Design and 3+ years of electrical CAD drafting experience, with advanced AutoDesk 3D skills. Expect collaboration across disciplines and opportunities to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• A.A.S. Degree in Electrical Drafting & Design or related technical field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical CAD drafting/design.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoDesk 3D products.
• Electrical modeling software such as Elecdes and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
• Understanding electrical symbols, schematics, PLCs, control systems, panel design, hazardous area, and grounding.
• Solid understanding of construction processes, design documentation, and drafting quality control.
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform design-related calculations.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics and schedules.
• Develop 3D models of electrical equipment and facility layouts.
• Interpret design specs and convert markups into CAD drawings.
• Maintain drawing files with strong CAD standards and drafting quality.
• Ensure drawings comply with codes, standards, and company guidelines.
• Coordinate with mechanical and civil disciplines to resolve design conflicts.
• Perform field visits to verify site information for design accuracy.
• Assist with redlines, drawing updates, and document control processes.
• Check and review CAD deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior drafters and lead small drafting teams.
