Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking two Electric Distribution Planning Engineers to join our Electric Distribution Team in a remote capacity.

You will contribute to the planning, analysis, and design of electric distribution systems that enhance reliability and support grid modernization for utility clients. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of related experience, with CYME experience strongly preferred and professional licensure desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required.
• CYME experience strongly preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings.
• Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for electric distribution planning and infrastructure projects.
• Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership.
• Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard engineering procedures and utility best practices to improve system reliability and performance.
• Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical infrastructure projects.
• Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments, system assessments, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
