Job summary

GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to maintain and support the school's technology infrastructure for a remote-learning environment. You will ensure reliable access to instructional platforms, student information systems, and end-user devices for students, teachers, and staff.

The role combines technical support, systems administration, cybersecurity awareness, and customer service, with onsite supervision at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center and standard

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Instructional Technology support or systems administration.
• Experience supporting Microsoft and Google platforms including their cloud-based options.
• Knowledge of Windows, ChromeOS, and basic networking concepts.
• Experience with remote support tools and help desk ticketing systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
• Preferred experience in high school or college education and virtual learning environments.
• Familiar with LMS such as Canvas and related technology products.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for staff, students, and families.
• Instructional support for staff and students with technology related issues and LMS usage.
• Administrative support for admissions, orientation, grade reporting, and other areas.
• Coordinate tech support and new technology initiatives with partner schools.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printers and account access issues.
• Support remote users through phone, email, chat, and remote desktop tools.
• Document support requests, resolutions, and recurring issues in a ticketing system.
• Support video conferencing platforms and online testing systems.
• Help troubleshoot audio/video and connectivity issues during live instruction.
• Provide basic user training and technology guidance to staff and students.
