Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Senior Medical Coder with extensive ED coding experience for a fully remote role based out of Chesapeake, VA. The candidate must hold CCS, CPC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT credentials and have EPIC experience.

This contract-to-hire position offers competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits. Qualified applicants will code ED and hospital records, ensure accurate DRG/APC assignments, and maintain high productivity with strong accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must have several years of ED coding experience.
• Must be certified (CCS, CPC, COC, RHIA, RHIT).
• EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4/HCPCS.
• Abstract medical data and ensure accuracy prior to billing submission.
• Identify the DRG and APC for inpatient/outpatient records.
• Provide education sessions on coding, documentation, and compliance.
