Job summary

Alliance Water seeks a Director of Strategy and Administration to oversee budgeting, policy, and operations in a remote-capable role with periodic in-person meetings in the Austin–San Antonio corridor. Direct supervision is exercised over consultants, reporting to the Executive Director.

The candidate will lead interagency coordination, strategic planning, and cross-training to ensure organizational efficiency while maintaining regulatory compliance and effective partnerships.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of experience with some or all essential functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, finance, business, or related field; engineering degree acceptable with 10+ years in admin/management.
• Strong knowledge of personal computers and proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Motivated, able to work independently and learn technical aspects of water treatment and administration.
• Professional, people-oriented, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Budgeting and finance oversight for operating and capital plans.
• Policy development and regulatory compliance alignment.
• Operations support including HR and procurement coordination.
• Interagency coordination and advisory support to the Executive Director.
• Strategic planning and partnership development with stakeholders.
• Attend and present at Board, Technical, and Administrative Committee meetings.
• Cross-train with leadership to ensure continuity of duties.
• Maintain ongoing professional knowledge and participate in relevant organizations.
• Coordinate irregular updates to sponsors and external groups; occasional night meetings.
