Job summary

City of Austin Water is seeking a senior leader to oversee Environmental, Planning, and Development Services, ensuring integrated resources planning and effective asset management for water utilities.

The role requires directing division activities, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with City bodies to deliver long-range CIP programs and sustainable water infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with six years of progressively responsible management experience; includes at least three years with water/wastewater utility.
• Master’s degree may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs division and section activities, forecasting supply and demand and improving efficiency.
• Develops asset management plans for water and wastewater assets, including condition, criticality and risk assessments.
• Plans short- and long-range water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems and programs with administrative, managerial, and engineering support.
• Sets goals, objectives and resource requirements for Environmental, Development, and Planning activities.
• Develops and enforces SOPs, policies, and procedures within divisions to align with City practices.
