Job summary

BLMP is seeking a Communications Director to set strategy for communications, digital content, and public relations. You will lead a team and ensure BLMP is the primary source of information for its diverse network and partners, reporting to the Co-Director.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in nonprofit communications, with in-house leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex knowledge into compelling messages across channels. Remote work with occasional travel is included.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of communications experience, ideally in an in-house leadership role within a nonprofit.
• Proven ability to transform knowledge into compelling messages and disseminate to key audiences across channels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to maintain an organizational voice across platforms.
• Highly collaborative, mission-aligned leader who welcomes feedback and drives results.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadline-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Communications Team and set department strategy.
• Develop and evaluate comprehensive communications plans for diverse audiences.
• Guide content strategy with the Communications Strategist and Digital Organizer.
• Oversee website management, newsletters, reports, and collateral.
• Strengthen brand identity, media lists, and departmental budgeting.
• Develop rapid response and crisis communication protocols.
• Represent BLMP in movement spaces and coalitions.
