Job summary

Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project (BLMP) is seeking a Communications Director to set and guide the strategy for all communications, including digital and public relations. You will lead the communications team, ensuring BLMP is the primary source and conduit of information for a diverse network and constituent base.

Reporting to the Co-Director, you will develop plans, manage content, and collaborate with staff, consultants, and partner organizations to advance Black migrant justice and liberation

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of nonprofit communications leadership.
• Proven ability to translate knowledge into engaging messages.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; adaptable across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the communications team and supervise department meetings.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate organization-wide communications plans.
• Oversee content strategy, digital presence, and narrative development.
• Coordinate with strategy partners to reflect BLMP’s mission in all messaging.
• Maintain brand, media lists, and budget for the communications department.
• Establish rapid response protocols for urgent situations.
• Represent BLMP in movement spaces and coalitions.
