Qualifications

• At least 8 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• At least 5 years in the insurance industry, with a focus on statutory reporting.
• At least 5 years of management experience leading accounting or financial reporting teams.
• Extensive experience with statutory accounting principles and insurance regulatory reporting.
• Demonstrated experience managing remote and/or offshore teams.
• Strong expertise in statutory reporting for insurance entities.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, financial analysis, and reconciliation.
• Experience with variance analysis and financial planning and analysis.
• Ability to interpret and apply statutory accounting principles in complex situations.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to coach, develop, and motivate team members.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex statutory data to leadership.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Manage statutory financial reports for all insurance subsidiaries, including Annual Statements, Quarterly Statements, and Audited Financial Statements.
• Lead and oversee monthly and quarterly close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and internal controls.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain high standards of quality for financial reporting and internal controls.
• Prepare internal financial management reports and materials for board reporting, providing clear insights for decision-making.
• Communicate statutory financial results and key findings to senior leadership clearly and concisely.
• Coordinate filings required by state insurance regulators, ensuring completeness and timely delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide financial data for rating agencies and examiners.
• Prepare analyses, presentations, and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
• Review research on statutory accounting and emerging issues, incorporating conclusions where appropriate.
• Support executive summaries on complex issues requiring research and analysis.
• Manage, coach, and develop team members to enable high-quality output.
• Maintain oversight of domestic remote team and offshore staff for alignment and productivity.
• Develop responsive communication channels to quickly identify critical performance factors.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scale the team globally.
• Foster knowledge sharing and best practices in statutory accounting across the organization.
• Collaborate to optimize the operating model for statutory reporting using global resources.
