Job summary

Help Scout seeks a Director of Product Design to lead a senior product design team, owning design principles, the HSDS, and AI experiences. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Brand Design, and executives to prioritize capacity and shape the product direction in a remote, fast-moving environment.

You’ll lead design critique, evolve the design system, and ensure high-quality, scalable design across the product.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in product design.
• 3+ years managing designers.
• Strong B2B SaaS judgment.
• Experience leading distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead our product design team as a player/coach and develop senior designers through critique and reviews.
• Own design principles, standards, guardrails, and decision records for scalable user experiences.
• Be accountable for the design system as a product and drive adoption across teams.
• Own how AI shows up in our product and ensure trustworthy AI experiences across the product.
• Evolve design delivery with AI-enabled workflows and an optimized operating model.
• Shape product direction alongside Product and Engineering as part of the XLT.
• Decide where design capacity goes and embed designers in high-priority workstreams.
• Partner with Brand Design to align design across GTM and product experiences.
