UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director of Operational Excellence to drive financial discipline, workforce planning, vendor governance, and process rigor for the Data & Analytics Office. The role collaborates with Finance, HR, IT and business leaders to translate strategy into governed execution using data-driven insights.

You'll work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with Minneapolis or Washington, DC area in-office requirements of four days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, portfolio operations, or operational leadership.
• Experience managing budgets and large blended workforces (FTEs, offshore resources, and contractors).
• Healthcare, insurance, or regulated environments preferred; federal or consulting with financial systems depth is relevant.
• Proven track record building financial scorecards, dashboards, and reporting processes.
• Vendor governance experience delivering measurable cost savings.
• Cross-functional leadership across Finance, IT, HR and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning and analysis for the UHC Data & Analytics Office, including annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
• Own portfolio and workforce operations, tracking staffing and capitalizable labor.
• Build executive-ready financial scorecards integrating data across systems.
• Establish and run vendor governance cadence and performance tracking.
• Influence operating model and process transformation toward a capability-driven structure.
• Partner with D&A leadership, Finance, IT, HR and stakeholders to deliver data-backed recommendations.
• Identify cost savings and process efficiencies through rigorous financial analysis and vendor negotiation.
• Lead a small operational excellence team connecting D&A with enterprise functions.
