Job summary

The Community Preservation Corporation is seeking a Director of Construction Risk Management to oversee lending risk for affordable housing projects, primarily in upstate NY, with a remote-friendly setup. The role requires expertise in compliance, risk assessment, and mitigation across project portfolios.

You will guide engineers/architects, review loan-stage information, and deliver analysis reports while training teams on risk guidelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in construction, building materials/design, cost analysis and scheduling for agency and non-agency projects.
• Professional degree in engineering, architecture or construction management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction lending with risk management responsibility.
• Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
• Self-starter, team player, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee third-party inspecting engineers and architects: select, communicate requirements, ensure quality and compliance.
• Review construction information at loan stages in line with CPC Credit Policy.
• Communicate with borrowers, contractors and architects to identify risks and mitigation options.
• Prepare Pre-/Post-Construction Analysis Reports with narratives on budget, schedule, environmental and seismic issues.
• Review monthly status reports and construction documentation.
• Review Property Condition Assessments for loan viability and lifecycle costs.
• Provide training seminars on construction risk guidelines.
• Perform administrative duties related to construction portfolio management.
